Inflation has sent prices soaring this year alone, so it’s no shocker McDonald’s Egg McMuffin costs a bit more since its birth 50 years ago. However, to celebrate the momentous anniversary, the fast food joint is turning back the clock and serving up its fan-favorite breakfast sandwich for the original 63 cents.
On Thursday, November 18, you can snag the Egg McMuffin with that original price tag when you order directly from the app. But just because you’re paying the original price doesn’t mean you have to order it the original way. In fact, McDonald’s is encouraging fans to try a twist on the breakfast sandwich.
“The Egg McMuffin, the first-ever quick service restaurant breakfast sandwich, joined the McDonald’s menu in 1971 in Santa Barbara, California, and customers have been getting creative with it ever since,” Senior Director of Brand Communications Molly McKenna said in a press release. “It’s been fun to see all the ways they’ve made it their ownwhether it’s adding some heat with salsa or sweetness with jam or combining it with the Sausage McMuffin, they’re always innovating. I personally love to add a little heat to my Egg McMuffin.”

Cook The Sausage Then The Egg
Now its time to cook the four sausage patties. Place them on the hot griddle, and let them cook on one side for two to three minutes, then flip and cook them on the other side. Now, use a meat thermometer or cut into one to check for doneness, and if theyre done, set them aside.

McDonald’s will celebrate the 50th birthday of the Egg McMuffin by selling them for 63 cents during breakfast hours on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021.
Good news for fast food lovers, the McDonalds Egg McMuffin is returning to its original price of 63 cents during breakfast hours on Thursday, Nov. 18, as long as customers have downloaded the McDonalds app.
McDonalds launched its first-ever nationwide loyalty program in July, called MyMcDonalds Rewards, with the hope to expand its customer base. The Egg McMuffin deal is just one of the discounts offered through the app.
For example, once customers collect 3,000 points on the rewards program, they can be redeemed for 6-piece chicken nuggets or a large iced coffee. Large fries or a Filet-O-Fish can be redeemed at 4,500 points and a Big Mac or a Happy Meal is free at 6,000 points.
The Egg McMuffin deal is in celebration of the sandwichs 50th anniversary.

The Egg McMuffin was initially introduced to McDonald’s customers 50 years ago at a cost of 63 cents per sandwich, and this Thursday, in honor of the popular breakfast sandwich’s birthday, customers can once again purchase an Egg McMuffin for only 63 cents.
The special will run from 6 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Thursday, and will be offered exclusively on the McDonald’s app.
In honor of the fast food chain’s more creative customers, McDonald’s also is sharing some of the most interesting Egg McMuffin ‘remixes’ that various customers have come up with.
The company is encouraging foodies to jump on the bandwagon and customize their McMuffin as much as they’d like, “From adding a McChicken patty and syrup for a DIY take on chicken and waffles, to swapping the English Muffins for two Hash Browns … the ways to mix it up are endless,” the brand shared.
Some customers, for example, may be interested in making a “Sweet Chicken Sammie,” by ordering a McChicken Biscuit and syrup to top their Egg McMuffin. Still others would enjoy substituting the sandwich’s muffins with two hash browns.
