The Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival in New York City dates back to the 1870’s, with participants donning their most extravagant and elaborate Easter hats and bonnets to mark Easter Sunday. Traditionally, participants would dress in the latest fashions and the event was noted for its ostentatious display of wealth and beauty. This year’s parade begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, April 17, marching on Fifth Avenue from 49th Street up to 57th Street. Anybody is welcome to join in, and dressing up is encouraged.

Catholic Charities of Staten Island coordinates what is billed as the borough’s largest Easter Egg Hunt on the campus of the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, Mount Loretto, Pleasant Plains.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Check out these fun things on Staten Island this Easter as kids and adults are out and about in full force.
SATURDAY: 4K EGGS!
The Catholic Charities staff and volunteers are mapping out what is possibly Staten Islands largest Easter egg hunt for this Saturday, April 16. The search will be on for guests of a special brunch held in two seatings 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Reservations are a must with the cost of $20 per ticket for adults and $30 for children. The monies are considered a donation to Catholic Charities. Tickets can be purchased through www.cc-si.org.
Admission gets a child and accompanying adults access to gourmet food, an Easter basket of goodies and photo ops with the Easter Bunny, plus the egg hunt.
The egg hunt itself promises over 4,000 eggs to find on the sprawling lawns of Mount Loretto with 20 Golden Eggs containing prizes.
The event has been successful in the past but, due to COVID, was suspended for three years.
Were so happy to be back, said Claire Atalla, acting CEO of Catholic Charities of Staten Island. This event has become a tradition for so many families and were excited to welcome them back to our campus this Easter.
Proceeds will benefit programs at Catholic Charities of Staten Island.
