Avocado Toast With Tomato Egg And Chilli

Theres no doubt the avocado on toast trend is here to stay and why not? Its delicious! I wasnt a fan of avocado at all until I started feeding them to my eldest while she was weaning. I thought they basically tasted of air freshener but if you lick bits off your hand often enough it seems you learn to love them. Now I really like them as an alternative to butter on toast, often with a bit of Marmite too. The former is common in South America where avos are known as poor mans butter. No idea what they make of the Marmite in the region

This Avocado Toast with Tomato, Egg and Chilli makes a great weekend brunch and is a lot cheaper than the £7 which you are likely to pay in a hipster restaurant coming in at around £1 a portion or less. It will certainly keep you feeling full until lunch. And it actually makes a pretty ace lunch too!

The kids have it without the chilli oil spray. Making your own chilli oil is so easy and satisfying and means you can use a cheaper olive oil too as all the flavour is from the chilli. Although all the goodness is still in the olive oil. I have some in the cupboard in a mini spray bottle, you could use one from a travel toiletry set. Its brilliant for perking up any bland dishes you might have the misfortune of encountering.

How To Make Avocado Toast

A basic avocado toast is pretty simple. Just toast your bread and top it with either mashed or sliced avocado and a pinch of sea salt.

However, there are so many interesting and tasty ways to level up your avocado toast. Here are a few ideas for toppings:

  • egg any style , sliced tomato, and everything bagel seasoning
  • smoked salmon with sliced cucumbers and chives or dill
  • sliced strawberries and a drizzle of balsamic glaze
  • sliced radishes and arugula with fresh ground pepper
  • tomato, basil, and fresh mozzarella
  • black beans, salsa, and shredded Monterey jack cheese
  • crumbled goat cheese and fresh, sliced figs
  • red onion, chopped jalapeño, and corn
  • hemp seeds or sunflower seeds with a squeeze of lime

Dont be afraid to get creative and mix and match toppings for a sweet or savory meal.

How To Make Avocado Toast :

  • While making avocado bread certainly isn’t rocket science, the key is to start with a perfectly ripe avocado, one that will smash easily with the back of a fork.
  • It’s always good to have a few variations on hand to avoid the breakfast or lunch rut. Here are some of my favorites…
  • Greek-inspired: Avocado mashed with oregano, topped with roasted red peppers, kalamata olive and feta cheese.
  • Southwestern: Top avocado with mashed black beans, cumin, tomato and queso fresco.
  • Cheesy goodness: Keep it simple and top with goat cheese, gorgonzola or Brie.
  • Classic: Top the avocado with slices of bacon or ham and a fried egg or sliced hard-boiled egg.
  • From the sea: Top the avocado with smoked salmon, crab meat or even sauteed shrimp.

But yesterday, I just didnt feel like my standard breakfast, so instead I created this Egg on Avocado Toast with Tomato Jam. Was it ever tasty and perfect for Mothers Day!

Id made some Tomato Jam Tuesday using a container of baby Yellow Tomatoes. Id had actually purchased them to make another dish but suddenly had the hankering for my Tomato Jam.

It took that dream over any resolution for me to realize that I really need to accomplish this task in 2018.

Is Avocado Toast Good For Weight Loss

Avocado toast can be part of a weight loss plan.

Eating avocados has been linked with lower body weight, lower body mass index , and a smaller waist circumference .

Some small studies have shown that consuming an avocado every day may lead to weight loss. Its important to note, though, that much of the research in this area is funded by the Hass Avocado Board, so theres potential for bias in these reports .

Remember that weight loss isnt caused or stymied by specific foods, but replacing certain foods with others like using avocado on your toast instead of pork bacon, which is high in saturated fat, for example may help support that goal.

Avocados are a good source of monounsaturated fats and fiber, two nutrients that have been noted for their roles in aiding weight loss .

In addition, diets high in monounsaturated fat, such as the Mediterranean diet, are linked to lower body weight .

A review of several studies suggests that fat, especially poly- and monounsaturated fats, can increase feelings of fullness as well as reduce the release of hunger hormones in the body, which may contribute to weight loss .

If weight loss is your goal, you may want to choose whole grain bread and consider adding a protein source like an egg to your toast. Itll help keep you full.

In addition to being delicious, avocado toast offers many health benefits.

Why is a dose of avocado and egg toast so satisfying? Three words – protein, fiber and fats. For the toast, I use a hearty whole wheat bread with lots of seeds . Fiber galore!

The fats come from the egg, the avocado and the ghee that I use to cook the egg. Could you stick with cooking spray for the egg? Of course! But ghee produces the most amazing golden brown crispiness around the edges of the egg. The protein is mainly found in the egg, but you’ll get a bit from the avocado and bread, too.

Grated Egg Avocado Toast – Viral Tiktok Recipe

In the past, Ive never been that excited about eggs. Really, I just cant get behind the scrambly squishy thing, and omelets for me are always 100% about whats hiding between the layers of egg. Like, for example, chzzz. And sausage. And veggies. Fill er up.

Theres only one kind of egg generates real true food excitement deep in my food spirit, and that is a very drippy, soft yolk, creamy poached egg. Just writing that makes me weak in the knees.

So for the last few weeks, Ive been experimenting with eggsters in all their different forms and its been sort of okay. Like, eating half of the omelete before picking out all the delicious cheese and veggie fillings would be considered moderately successful. But then. Just a few days ago I struck simple breakfast poached egg gold with this poached egg and avocado toast combo, which means no more squishy scrambley eggs EVER again, and drippy yolks foreverrrrr.

This Poached Egg and Avocado Toast recipe is so incredibly simple, but up until a few weeks ago if you would have told me to make poached eggs for anything, I would have told you to talk to the hand, girlfraaand. Cause poached eggs are like, scary, right?

NO WAY MAN. They are beautifully easy.

My easy secret is using the rim of a mason jar. Boom. Done. See that picture up there? They just sort of make themselves cozy and perfect all on their own. They might not be super perfectly pretty the first time , but what-ever. Sprinkle some parm on there and call it a win.
